People often think of the state of New York being all big cities. Upstate New York has a lot of rural land. You can drive for miles and see crops growing in fields. Sure, we have New york City and Manhattan Island, but a lot of New York is suburbs and rural. You would think that alarm systems are the norm in the city, and they are, but they are also pretty much becoming the norm in the suburbs and rural areas of New York too. New York ADT is the type of digital wireless home alarm security system that we have.
I first had an ADT alarm system in my apartment when I lived in the city. I was in a nice building, and they had their own version of security. They had a keypad at the door where you had to enter a code to get in, and you could “buzz” people up from your apartment when they rang your door bell at the main entrance. I was coming in one day and entered my code. I walked in and was at the elevator. I turned around and saw a woman come in. She put in her code to get in, then she held the door for a man coming in behind her. He had a pizza with him. Sure, he probably was a pizza delivery guy, but what if he was not? He should have had to be buzzed in.
I checked to see how easy it was to get into my building one day. I pressed about 20 doorbells on the panel outside the door. I made sure to hit ones where the people did not know me. I had my hood up on my jacket and sunglasses on and just said, “Package delivery,” when people answered through the intercom. I was buzzed into the building in less than 10 seconds! I got a New York ADT alarm system that week. I had them install one on our house when I got married and moved to the suburbs too.
